What is 'The Ancient Order of Fabled Imp Catchers'?

The Ancient Order of Fabled Imp Catchers has been in existence for hundreds of years, having been established in the 15th century through a partnership between the second imp and the Order's founding members. The Order’s purpose is to capture imps from across the land and bring them back to the city, ensuring that these wayward imps can cause no further mischief. Once this quest is complete, the last remaining imp—the second imp of our story, and the one who bargained with the angel—will return home alongside his friend, freeing the land of imps once and for all.

Are you open during the Asylum Steampunk Festival?

Yes! Each August bank holiday the Cathedral Quarter of Lincoln in which the shop is based is transformed into a haven of steampunks and enthusiasts who come from far and wide to enjoy four days at one of the largest and longest running steampunk festivals in the world. From traders of finery, stonemasons, wood carving to tea duelling and everything in between this annual event is one not to be missed. With our shop at 36 Steep Hill in the heart of this area we are often nestled amongst one of the market areas and will be open with extended opening hours during the weekend of events. Can you purchase imps online?

We also offer a range of imps made with special finishes and materials, such as Radiant, Impstone, and Ingot, which are priced higher. How are the imps made?

Our imps are handmade by a dedicated team of Imp Makers in our shop at 36 Steep Hill. They are crafted from a British-made natural gypsum material that is solvent-free and water-based.

Do you make imps to order?

Unfortunately, our Imp Catchers are often busy making imps, which can be viewed in our shop and aren’t able to make individual imps to order. Each imp is unique, and with hundreds to choose from, you’re sure to find one or two to take home with you. Those looking for larger corporate orders should email us at hello@lincolnimporium.co.uk .

Is the shop accessible?

Our team of Imp Catchers will do everything they can to make your visit as enjoyable and accessible as you had hoped for. Our shop does have a few small steps to access it and unfortunately isn't suitable for wheelchair or mobility scooter access due to these steps and being on a hill. If you require additional support or are unable to wait in a queue for longer periods, you are able to schedule a timed visit within a 30 minute window should you need to, to speak with us about this please email hello@lincolnimporium.co.uk.
